Iyengar Yoga with Elaine Rees-Rockey

Discovering Iyengar® Yoga was one of the best moments of my life. I believe is has helped me enjoy better physical health, encouraged greater calm and taught me the simple pleasure of sitting still!  It has also taught me greater compassion, tolerance and contentment. Through my teaching, I try to provide similar experiences for my students.

Each class is carefully structured, provides support and, alongside the effort, laughter can be heard, too.  It is important to me that my students learn, benefit from and also enjoy their yoga experience.

At a very simple level, Yoga is a series of poses (‘asanas’) that work on the body, the breathing and the mind. Iyengar® Yoga is named after a pioneering Indian teacher, Yogacharya Sri B.K.S.

Iyengar who taught until the age of 95 both in India and worldwide. Iyengar® Yoga focuses on correct posture and alignment, builds physical strength and calms the mind.  It also uses supports (‘props’) that help you progress safely, at your own pace and to suit your individual ability.  You often leave the class feeling lighter and calmer.

With regular practice you can enjoy greater physical health.  As your practice deepens, you may experience greater confidence, a healthier mind and a more positive outlook on life.

During class, a range of different poses are practised – both standing and sitting.  The class gradually winds down and ends with a final relaxation asana.  You work at your own pace and individual advice and correction is given.

Class price - £8 per person
